What causes weight gain?

Dr. Tran Tien believes that a diet grossly disproportionate in its share of sugars and saturated fats, as found in pasta, pizza, rice, pastries, muffins, cakes, corn, cereals and breads, which mirrors closely like the North American diet, causes the pancreas to produce an overabundance of insulin, which stays in the body and causes imbalance in the blood sugar level. 

According to Dr. Tran Tien, majority of the modern society's weight issues are due to insulin dysfunction.
Hypoglycemia or low glycemia occurs due to overproduction of insulin, which induces constant sugar cravings and weight gain. Main function of insulin hormone is to regulate blood sugar levels. 
However, it is also the same hormone that facilitates the buildup of fat (triglycerides) into the fat cells. To make it worse, insulin "locks" the fat in the fat cell, preventing it to be used as a energy source. The vicious cycle begins when "sugar cravings" are created due to the low sugar level in the blood and stored fat can't be used as a fuel source. This overabundance of insulin causes fat and weight gain.
How Ideal Protein method helps to lose weight?

Therefore, to achieve the desired weight loss, the Ideal Protein protocol is based on transforming the body's ability to digest sugars properly by regulating the insulin levels. By limiting simple and complex carbs, pancreas is not overworked and gets a well-deserved break!

Learn to live off of the body's own fat reserves. The body employs energy from three reserves: glycogen (carbohydrate), protein and fats. First from it's simple and complex carbohydrate reserves and when depleted, turns simultaneously to its protein and fat reserves for energy.
