ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

You are not alone

Affecting an estimated 18 million American men, erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to achieve and sustain an erection for sexual intercourse. Affecting approximately 20 percent of men 65 years of age, and about five percent of men aged 40. Though failure to achieve an erection less than 20 percent of the time is not unusual, the failure to do so more than 50 percent of the time likely indicates a person is suffering from ED.

The cause

Though there are numerous issues that may lead to ED, common causes include atherosclerosis, weak veins, nerve diseases, stress, anxiety, injury to the penis, depression, chronic illness, and chronic illness.

While ED is treatable, some causes of ED may not be preventable.
